Designer Collaboration Alert: Lanvin for H&M
Designer collaborations with mainstream retailers have been unfolding at a furious pace lately — but the chorus of gasps we heard this morning when H&M announced that Lanvin will be doing its newest line reached eardrum-threatening decibels. We're dying to get our first look at the collection, which will be revealed in a video on hm.com on Nov. 2.
Lanvin artistic director Alber Elbaz and menswear designer Lucas Ossendrijver will be doing both a men's and a women's line, available at 200 stores worldwide and on Nov. 20 in North America. That may be nearly three months away — but we're inclined to start lining up now.
For the time being, check out Elbaz in this video for H&M, where he says the retailer asked him to translate the dream they created for Lanvin to a bigger audience. "It wasn't a project about a dress for less," Elbaz says. "I think I loved the idea that H&M is going luxury, rather than Lanvin is going public.
