Police in Drew County, Ark., arrested a man recently after a six-mile chase. They didn't have much trouble identifying the car — the Ford Mustang bore a stylized No. 3 on the door, similar to the number made famous by the legendary Dale Earnhardt.
According to MonticelloLive.com, police charged 43-year-old James Ratliff with fleeing police and possession of methamphetamine.
But after pictures of the suspect's car, with that crudely numbered "3" on the door, circulated on social media, they caught the attention of Dale Earnhardt Jr., son of the man who made the number famous in racing.
Junior sagely observed, "Painting a 3 on your car will not bestow your personal auto with extraordinary powers."
As some race fans noted, the suspect had the nerve to paint that number on a Ford. The late Earnhardt, of course, won all seven of his NASCAR Cup championships in a Chevrolet.
